Magerebrug – Magere means slim or skinny. That is why this bridge is nicknamed the “Skinny Bridge” there is another one just like it, very close to it. This is right in front of my house.
Gerezen brug – raising the bridge. Because there is so much water traffic and large boats traversing the canals of Amsterdam most of the bridges can be raised.
