Here in Amsterdam there are a lot of canal houses. Most of them have really
steep stairs inside which make moving in and out -VERY- difficult, normally.
So, clever movers have devised a much faster and better way to move your stuff.
They bring two trucks. One with your stuff, and another with a lift.
Also, if you have big stuff to throw away, you can call the city and they will
tell you when you can put your stuff out on the street for the “grofvuil” truck
to collect.
People throw away the strangest things. The 7-foot tall “U S” letters for example:

- Beautiful clouds over the Hogesluis in the Amstel river
- I have a feeling that Van Gogh was inspired like this…
- Casper at work in the Bar “Cafe Hotel Internationaal” on the Warmoesstraat
- Perfect Murphy’s half and half or Black and Tan poured by me.
- Grafitti on a deconstruction site. The building is finally gone after YEARS of demolition.
- Closeup of graffiti and likeness of a nearby statue of the man for which the street was named
- Doe iets! (Do Something!) 7 foot construction of shelving braces on the overpass.
- Waiting for mom to come home.
- Moving day. Lots of crap on the streets.
- More big garbage. Was this beauty actually in someone’s house? (it’s real leather!)
- 7 foot tall S and U, and lots of Ikea stuff as always.
- These were NOT the first huge letters to be left here. There were many.
- Canta car. Tiny lawn-mower-powered vehicle. Rules do NOT apply to them.
- Got it! Send it back down!
- Almost there! Little wheels rest against the building.
- You can even put huge items on it, like furniture, beds, appliances.
- Lift goes up or down in about 5 seconds
- Verhuizing lift in action
- Moving stuff up and down is MUCH easier than climbing steep narrow stairs
- Manning the verhuizing lift (moving lift)
