Magerebrug to Rembrandtplein

Rainy afternoon, walking from the Magerebrug (Skinny Bridge) to the Rembrandtplein

HDR – Sunday, October 9, 2011

I don’t usually use the HDR feature of my little Sony NEX-5 camera,
but today the light was grey and it was drizzling,
so I played around with it for a few shots around the Rembrandtplein and 7 Bridges.

Great Crested Grebe

Great Crested Grebe Juvenile –
I never saw them in the wild before coming to Amsterdam
but here there are many families of them living on my canal.
Today a pair came past with a new young on their back.
This is unusually late in theĀ  year, this being October.

Walking around Amsterdam on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Met some friends, took some pictures.
The “Floating Dutchman” bus was passing under the Magerebrug as I approached.
Apparently the bus picks up passengers from the transfer terminal at Schiphol to give
passengers who have a long layover something to do instead of sitting in the airport.
The bus takes them to near the Nemo and makes a tour of the Prinsengracht, then
takes them back to the airport.
There were so many boats out today that it seemed that nearly every boat that
could still float was touring!

Just walking around Amsterdam, trying to get away from the craziness of the boats on one of the last nice days of year for boating.
